The City of Seminole Building Division's responsibility is to provide technical information to Citizens, Contractors, and Developers regarding codes, ordinances and other related issues. The City of Seminole ensures that all construction activity is in compliance with City, State, Local Laws, and codes. The Florida Building Code standard that the City applies to all construction is to protect the Public Safety of the Community. We pride ourselves with giving you the best service, in a timely and courteous manner.

The Building Division is charged with providing a full range of services to the development community and the citizens of Seminole. The services include the issuance of permits, the review of plans, field inspections, and site plan review of projects. The Building Division reviews and inspects all jobs requiring a permit. The City has a team of well qualified personal. Plan reviews, including fire plan review are handled in-house.

The Building Division is also responsible for Code Enforcement. The Code Enforcement Officer is charged with enforcing various codes and ordinances that directly impact the appearance and public welfare of the community. The Code Enforcement Officer addresses their duties in response to complaints received and through diligent surveillance. The Division also reviews existing codes and propose changes that are deemed necessary to further enhance the well being of the community.

Local Business Tax Receipts and Zoning are also part of the Building Division, for both commercial and home-based businesses. We assist the citizens and consumers by providing information on whether a business is properly licensed, and if the current zoning is in conjunction with what the citizen and consumers need to comply. The Licensing Official issues Local Business Tax Receipts out of our office.
